Seven-year-old Coso, an Australian Sheepdog mix, was brought to the shelter when her family couldn't take care of her any longer.

Since then, she's been at Lort Smith Animal Hospital, a non-profit animal rescue in North Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, patiently waiting for her furever family to come. As day after day passed, workers at the shelter began to fear that she'd never find a family to love her.

But they couldn't have been more wrong! Coso was finally adopted by a furever family that will love and care for her for the rest of her life.

Coso was thrilled to finally be adopted, and she showed everyone just how happy she was in the photo that she took with her new family right before she left the shelter to go to her furever home.

You can see her with her new mom and brother, who are crouched down next to Coso, who's sitting there on her hind legs with her arms and paws high in the air and the biggest smile on her sweet face.

Just looking at this picture makes my heart happy and I'm so delighted that Coso has finally found the people who'll continue to light up her face, just as it is in the picture.

It's moments just like this one that show why it's so important that people adopt and don't shop! There are literally millions of dogs (and cats) biding their time in shelters all over the country (and the world), patiently waiting for someone to come and love them.

So, the next time you're considering bringing a new pet into your life, please head to and make a lonely animal as happy as this wonderful family has made Coso!

What do you think about Coso's beautiful family picture?
